Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.
Health Improvement Service Sleep Clinic
Self-referral working on a one-to-one basis with a staff member of the Health Improvement Service, the free sleep course lasts 4 weeks and aims to improve your sleep patterns, behaviors and routines, alongside educating you on good sleep techniques.
Making Space for Healthy Minds Silvercloud
You will have access to a number of self-help modules (anxiety, sleep, resilience) This is a self referral service. The Space for Sleep program will teach you the skills for overcoming your sleep difficulties, allowing you to achieve better quality sleep and wake up feeling refreshed.
Stop smoking service
It might seem difficult to think about stopping smoking during these challenging times, but now, more than ever it’s vital to stop smoking. Smokers have an increased risk of suffering complications if they get COVID-19, as smoking damages the lungs and weakens the immune system, making it harder to fight infections.
Sexual Health
Good sexual health is important for overall health and wellbeing. Safer sex helps to reduce the risks of picking up or passing on sexually transmitted infections and from unwanted pregnancy.
Lots of us will have problems with sex from time to time. There is no need to be embarrassed - help and support is available.

Pregnant: Worried or need advice?

Supporting your recovery – Northern Gambling Service
The NHS Northern Gambling Service (also known as the Northern Gambling Clinic) provides specialist addiction therapy and recovery to people affected by gambling addiction, as well as those with mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and suicidal feelings. We also provide help to people close to those with gambling addiction, such as family, partners, and carers.
Muscle and joint pain
You can access NHS physiotherapy without going to your GP first with go2physio.
Physiotherapists are physical activity specialists working with you to enable you to manage your condition. They are expertly skilled to assess, diagnose, and manage patients with musculoskeletal conditions much in the same way as doctors.
Musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle or joint problems like back pain, knee pain or sprains are best managed by Physiotherapists.
Find a psychological therapies service in England
You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP.
These services offer therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for common problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias
